"Gimme Love" - Outtakes by Coskel University
"Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah... Gimme Love, Gimme Love, Gimme Love, Gimme Love, Gimme Love!"
Typed out, it doesn't seem too cool - I know. But to hear the original recording of legendary Calypsonian, the Lord Nelson, woo listeners as he sings that chorus line? It's absolutely magical, I tell you!
Get a little sample of the ditty above, in the outtake from the Coskel University production, aptly titled "Gimme Love," which is a documentary on the life of Lord Nelson.
And who's the gorg. fellow he's jamming along with? That's Kevon Carter, a talented singer and musician who's on the rise - go ask someone.
Will let you know more about the doc. as info comes to hand, but in the meantime, check out additional clips on the Coskel University Facebook Page (you have to log onto your FB account to view.)

Coskel Cafe offers up wearable sweet treats
I'm a notorious snack fiend, so I instantly warmed up to this idea when I first heard about it from Coskel's founder, Xolani Heylon.Coskel Cafe, a diffusion jewelry line from the creators of the popular Trini Culture streetwear brand, Coskel University, is a quirky-cool collection of yummy delights and sweet, eye candy accessories that are sure to elicit coos of "awww! How cute!" whenever you wear them around the way.
The Coskel folks haven't listed the price points for the pieces as yet, but judging from their demographic and general price range, I'd say you have nothing to worry about. Besides purchasing one too many ice cream chains or cookie pendants.

Introducing CUJeans by Coskel University

I love that Coskel University does vintage, without being dated.
The young sportswear line melds the DNA of the ole time Trinidadian days with modern structures, creating a fresh and graphical look that appeals to the masses.
Partners in life and in art, Trinidadian Xolani & Japanese artist Machi has extended their Coskel offerings by delivering on their promise to introduce an extended line of jeans and casual wear.
Inspired by the aesthetic of the culture, the natty CU Jeans Spring/Summer 09 set features tees, vests, jackets, cardies and jeans smattered with their logo, an interpretation of the Trinidad Coat of Arms, and other kitschy localisms, like 'Z is for Zaboca'
By the way, a 'Zaboca' is the Trini word for 'avocado.'

Guess who's Dressing John Legend? Coskel University is!
Talk about marketing and promoting your brand! CU - or Coskel University - is pushing their expanding T-shirt and Jeans line even further, by outfitting the ever-stealthy and stylish John Legend & his band for their upcoming "Evolver" Tour!Legend's third album dropped last month, and he's breaking out a new "rock star cool" look for the tour that starts in November. Legend's stylist Connie Johnson, who's worked with the likes of D'Angelo, Soul for Real, and most recently, Rihanna, was searching for a fresh look to complement John Legend's new style direction.
Through a friend of a friend of a friend, the word was spread regarding Coskel University, and a fine deal was brokered between the Trinidad culture-influenced line and the international Star. Legend and team will be reportedly donning CU jeans, tees, and outer-wear whilst on tour, and during media appearances with Oprah, David Letterman, and others. Good for you, CU!
