Full disclosure: I have a bit of an 'old Granny' in me. I tend to gravitate to towards 40s silhouettes, vintage threads, and classic accessories, even though I also consider my style to be youthful and very eclectic.
I know: a contradiction, right?
Nonetheless, the denizens of the granny-chic aesthetic will rally with me in praising young designer Prabal Gurung, for making a Spring/Summer 2010 collection that fits all our style desires. His knack for making clean, modern shifts and slick pant suits puts him right up there with De La Renta and YSL.
I'm loving the whimsical touches; hand painted florals and gift-wrapping bows. Gurung shared that his inspiration for the set came from the notions of vintage packaging, and in particular, his mother's 1970 bottle of Yves Saint Laurent's Rive Gauche fragrance. Tres chic!
The collection follows through on his penchant for immaculate structures, and although some details seem to be a tad impractical for the everyday - I can just see those ankle ties on the royal blue trousers getting soggy in the snow - the 26-look presentation held something for every hour of a stylish woman's day. Absolutely smashing.
