Model Call for Island People Mas 2010 - "Kuchela"

According to Wyatt Gallery and the IP folks, Island People Mas, is looking for fresh faces to model in their highly creative calendar and launch for Carnival 2010.

To be considered, check out the open Model Search on Monday July 27 at the IP Mas camp at 11 stone Street, from 5-6pm; I suggest you get there at least 30 - 45mins before.

So ladies, wear a bikini under your clothes; Guys, wear shorts, as you will be photographed in those said same bikinis or shorts. Please don't wear heavy, overdone make up, and do attend the search with your hair styled out/down (NOT PULLED BACK.)

The team is looking for beautiful models from all ethnicities, and they're also keeping an eye out for Classical Indian Dancers.

Which makes sense, since their presentation theme for 2010 is all about that East-Indian/Creole mash-up we all love, "Kuchela!"

Fashion Week T&T 09 Model Search Update

Today's D-Day! If you've been sitting in Port of Spain or San Fernando, wondering "Can I walk the runway at Fashion Week TT09" (I know 'walk the runway'... such an oxymoron!), today's your last chance to test the waters and see if you've got whatever it is the scouts are looking for.

Once again - here are the details as I got it from Wyatt Gallery, the U.S. photog and general guy-about-town who seems to have a rather hands-on role in the process:

Wednesday 22nd, 2009; Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago: The day is here: Fashion Week T&T 2009 Model Casting is on today, Wednesday April 22nd!

The Key point is: Don't be nervous, you have nothing to lose!!! If you don't try, then you definitely won't succeed. Fashion Week and Fuse The Agency are here to help expose you to wider audience. This is your chance; take advantage of it.

WHERE IS IT:
Hyatt Regency Conference Centre on the Waterfront. When you enter the Hyatt driveway the conference center is on the right. You can park in the garage just past there.

WHAT TO WEAR:
Look nice but simple. Guys and Girls wear fitted jeans and a vest. Ladies, wear heels. Bring a bathing suit just in case we need to see you in one.

WHAT TIME TO ARRIVE:
Arrive on time. You can come at any time within the time slots but don't arrive at the end or you won't get seen. Be there 30 minutes prior to the end of the time slot. Time slots are 11am - 2pm and 4pm - 8pm.

IF YOU DID NOT RSVP:
If you realize that you forgot to RSVP or you want to change time slots, don't worry... just come at the time you want.

And remember, we are friendly judges! We won't be commenting on you at all actually. You will just walk in the room say hi, do a little walk, and you're gone. Simple!

See you later, and thanks! We are really looking forward to meeting you all there and finding the new stars!

So a few words of advice. In my 'relative youth', I modeled for some of those notable Trini fashion designers, attended a model search or two, and when I got into Broadcasting & Media, I worked closely with the top local/regional advertising companies and such.

One thing I noted, is that self confidence ALWAYS got the scout's attention. I am not talking about self centerdness, or cockiness, but a simple, unwavering belief in your own unique look and ability. Confidence translates well on a runway, and the crowds can sense that about you.

Go in there with your 'A' game, and get there early! Not like 'first in line' early (or else your look could be easily forgotten after a brain numbing day of seeing people), but early enough where things aren't too hectic.

And at the end of the day, do your thing, and have a fun time; don't sweat it, if you're not called back, but do let me know if you're chosen!

What a black beauty!

Taken from the latest set of promo images that were shot by Wyatt Gallery for Trinidadian Designer Meiling's 'Msquared for Micles' collection, this lighthearted and stylistic pic does great justice to the easy & colourful pieces.
