L'Echo - J'ouvert '10 by Artist Brian Wong Won

Think very early Carnival, in the 1800's. Negues Jardin, et al. Lots of white. A Bois, or two. Throw some J'ouvert paint in the mix for good measure, and you'd have a rough idea as to what artist Brian Wong Won has up his painterly sleeves for Carnival 2010!

The Miami-based gouache painter is heading into his 4th year as a Mas' Man, since the formation of his J'Ouvert band, Mas Jumbies for the Carnival of 2007.

Alas, I can't tell more than I already have (fingers on lips, here!) and I can't post images of the sections (It's a J'Ouvert band with sections, and costumes, and ting!) but I can point you in the direction of the promo teaser for the band. Click here to find out more!

Island People Mas 2010 - Kutchela: A Teaser.

Hmm.... What do you think? You know, on first glance, my reaction was, "Eww - what's this?" But upon closer inspection, I have to admit that this teaser of Island People's 2010 Carnival presentation, Kutchela, is a good indication of interesting things to come.

What I'm digging most, is the lack of feathers! And the usage of printed materials that actually mimic the intricate embroidered textures on Indian Saris. And I'm definitely digging that hot and happening Men's costume.

Well, IP. Let's see what else you've got up your organizationally beleaguered sleeves for Kutchela!
