Holier than thou...

Regardless of your religious persuasion, Mercedes Salazar has a faith band to suit - the premise being that you get one that syncs with your vibe, then you wish away!

The colourful collection of string bracelets crafted by the Colombian artist/designer are far better than the cheapo version you'd cop on an island vacation; they come adoned with the iconography above, and with semi-precious stones, metals and wistful sayings.

The spiritual focus of the bands isn't off-putting at all. I, for one, am partial to the St. Anthony wish bracelet - I've always felt a 'connection' of sorts with this Saint, who's the fave of the infant Jesus.

I even went to the awe inspiring St. Anthony's Bascilica in Padova, Italy, a few years ago, and I'll gladly go again, maybe as a pit-stop to the front row of Milan's fashion week... After all, St. Anthony is the patron saint of impossible cases, and front row pit-stops at fashion week in Italy is as near-impossible as it gets!

Another revered and holy being I've always had a connection to? Mother Lashkmi - believe it or not.

L.M.N. Harris.
