Queen Ifrika - Style 'pon Style...

This lady has been generating serious cred and buzz on the Jamaican/International reggae circuit for years before recently blowing up on the main stream scene.

Queen Ifrika - she of the gritty voice, street-wise lyrics and righteous vibes - stands out from her counterparts in my opinion, mainly because her personal style represents her stance in life, and yet manages to be extremely fashion forward, in a rootsy/yardie kind of a way.

Born Ventrice Morgan, the daughter of Ska legend Derrick Morgan, Queen Ifrika has managed to carve out a definitive voice on the conscious music circuit. Her tunes tackle ghetto realities in a bare-bones, in-your-face manner that snaps listeners out of their ignorant stupor; her song 'Daddy don't touch me there' has raised the eyebrows of Jamaican and regional politicians, radio producers and others, who've called for the banning of the tune that remonstrates incest.

And she does all these things with so much style! Check out the pic above - this is a lady that doesn't need to drape herself in the 'Red, Gold & Green' to make a point. She's a womanly force who ramps with the guys - she's right up there with Capleton, Jah Cure, Sizzla and others as far as I'm concerned - and she keeps her look tight whilst doing so...

Head's up to Queen Ifrika!
