Updates: Islands of the World Fash Week 09

A look from the IWFW 2009 event

The folks at Mode Iles, the group behind the Islands of the World fashion week (IWFW) in the Bahamas, have sent me word that they're looking for fresh faces to walk the ramps, during the November 2009 staging of the event.

Casting for the IWFW will be held this coming Saturday 19th September 09, in the Arawak room at the Sheraton Hotel in Nassau. The team will see both young men and women; the word is that interested persons must walk with casual and swim wear, along with national ID, and a model portfolio, if available.

So, what's in it for you? The IWFW has added a new dimension to their regular fashion presentation: The models who walk the ramp during the event will have the opportunity to win a $10,000.00 grand prize, the title of Female or Male Model Muse of the Year, along with international modeling contract considerations and other prizes.

Islands of the World Fashion Week - Final Designer List

My contacts at the Mode Iles company of Bahamas just sent me this update on the designer listing for their first ever Islands of the World Fashion Week. Here's what they had to say:

Nassau, Bahamas: 25th August, 2008. "Mode Îles, Ltd., organizer of Islands of the World Fashion Week, has announced the names of the designers committed, to-date, to present their creations at the premiere of the event scheduled for the 5th - 8th November at the historic British Colonial Hilton and the Atlantis Resort.

The designers, creators of both garments and accessories, will showcase their fashions on the catwalks during the four days of the event. Both new and established designers will present styles ranging from couture to casual, bridalwear, sports, swimwear, and ready-to-wear.

Arianne Etuk, Chief Operations Officer and spokesperson for the organizers, noted that "these designers represent thirteen island states, each with its unique culture and fashion perspective. The event will truly be a mosaic of cultures and fashions, and promises to be very illuminating."
