It's hard to keep track of the international fashion seasons, what with all the various forms of coverage swirling around these days.
Should one focus on the actual collections? Or on the real-life, street style 'fashion shows' on the outside?
I've decided to reign in my coverage by focusing on my absolute faves; I'm selecting one resonating look from 6 stunning collections, for each fashion week.
It's not to say that the other collections and looks aren't exceptional, but if I were to post every look and detail that I loved, you'd be inundated with Spring 2010 fashion posts, well into next year's Fall season!
First up? The London set. Here are my faves from Ol' Blightey!
Clockwise from top left:
- Vivienne Westwood Red Label::: Love the Pan-in-the-woods aesthetic, and the unexpected usage of those signature plaids and florals on asymmetrical, wrapped, and layered pieces.
- Duro Olowu::: Duro always delivers the perfect mash-up of bold prints; doesn't matter if it's the Kanga-inspired patterns or dizzying petals. Just wished that his presentation stuck to either live models or mannequins, and not a strange, spartan mixture of both...
- House of Holland::: Henry Holland's 80's Redux is such a flashback to that fabled era; I'm sure there's a scrunchy or two in those girl's hair! Totally feeling the reemergence of full on lace, though.
- Erdem::: Clean, ladylike silhouettes; fresh florals (the trend continues!) ; and neat accessories makes an on-point and wearable collection; I'm eyeballing that dress for brunch - paired with gladiators and an oversized clutch purse, of course!
- Luella Bartley::: Secretaries gone surreal! Balloon skirts that don't make you look like a walking sphere! Jumbo polka dots! Glossy leather attaches! Hurrah for Peter-Pan, scalloped collars! The office scene just got a tad more enjoyable.
- Mark Fast::: I've been a fan of his body-con knitwear, but Fast's S/S 2010 collection shined brightly for two main reasons: his layer knit elements and cut-out pieces only seem risque, and he put regular-sized girls - no more female grasshoppers - in his pieces!
