Found: Siri Betts @ the M.A.D.
I have gone M.A.D. today, and shall never return! The Museum of Art and Design (M.A.D.) at Columbus Circle, NY, is a gem of a creative space that houses various Objects d'Art, ranging from quaint and delicate to expansive and grandiose.
But the best gems at M.A.D. are surely its artistic workers. From the vibrant Curator, Lowery Stokes Sims, to the front desk staff, and to the artists-in-residence, like Ceramist Siri Betts for instance, the M.A.D. folks are all 'into' their art. With a capital 'A'.
Betts, in particular, impressed me with her tiny, hand-crafted ceramic brooches; stop by the Museum if you can, and you might get a glimpse of the artist at work in the open studios. The new pieces she's currently working on bears a striking resemblance to wild Bougainvillea vines, and glazed with the punchiest of colours, they make for insanely wearable pieces.
Look out for them when they're revealed!
