The Meiling, Inc. team just sent over this ethereal promo shot as a teaser to their 2010 collection showing, and I'm duly enthralled... A study on 'The Secret Life of Plants,' the set will feature classic Meiling silhouettes, re-imagined with wilting, withering blooms in mind.
According to the designer, her inspiration came from the, "subtle and fragile changes which emerge with the pressing and aging of cherished flowers and plants." Very earthy and organic, the colour palette ranges from muted burgundies and mossy greens, to rosy pinks and and faded nudes - and we all know that Meiling has never met a nude tone she didn't love!
What's nice is that she's continuing to work with other designers for her collections: Anthony Reid will surely craft another accessible and sleek menswear collection for the show, and textile artist Lisa Sargeant has provided some of the organically dyed materials for the collection.
Meiling 2010, 'The Secret Life of Plants' will be shown on November 17th (7:00pm) at the ballroom of the Trinidad Hilton; contact their office via info@meilinginc.com or call 628.6205 for tickets and info.
