Oh yes it is! Doing the poseur thing in the September 2009 issue of Glamour Magazine, Jaunel McKenzie looks classy, posh, stylish, and smashing, as she breaks out a few of the 'must-haves' for the Fall09 season!
It's always a heartwarming thing to see an island model getting selected to shoot for mass media outlets and publications, mainly because West Indian models are still not as omnipresent on the fashion scene as Brazilian, or Eastern European models are, for instance.
Once rated by Models.com as the #1 Black Supermodel (according to Pulse Models), the lithesome Jamaican catwalker is finally breaking into the mainstream, in a more noteworthy manner.
This is not to say that she hasn't done good international work already; McKenzie has scored campaigns for GAP, H&M, Bloomies, and such. But doing fashion editorials in noted publications like Glamour adds an extra stamp of of approval in a model's oft short-lived career.
To the average consumer fashion magazine/website reader, her face is not as recognizable as that of Arlenis Sosa, or Jourdan Dunn, and even they are sometimes pegged as just being another 'nice black model.'
So, to Jaunel, I say, "good for you, girl!"
