Island People 2010 'Kutchela' - Loving it!

I can't believe I'm about to say this, but, "Island People, your prodigal daughter might return to the flock for 2010 Carnival!" On the strength of Kalpana alone - the costume shown above - IP has all but convinced me that I should look into going home for Carnival next year.

To say the least, the costumes are SMASHING, and hits right on their theme. From what little I saw online of their launch, the set direction could have been as inventive as the costumes were; it seemed to be a basic theatre maquette that never blossomed into a full-fledged stage set.

However, as opposed to my ambivalence a few days ago, I am totally loving the direction and design of Kutchela; the IP folks may just be on the track to redeeming themselves.

All they've got to do now, is prove that they've got a grip on the organizational aspect and the Carnival crowd control, and they'll be set.

PS, Island People: The world is still in a recession, so the costume prices better not be astronomical!
