Well you know that I love this...
Although the styling of the reserved March 09 cover of Vogue Magazine featuring the First Lady, Michelle Obama, isn't free-wheeling with all the frothy drama that says 'Spring Fashion,' it's still right-on-point.
Mrs. Obama is 'herself' on the cover, minus the usual gimmickry of trend & seasonal issues. And the austerity of the beige-y background and her simple Jason Wu sheath(official White House fashion consultant, maybe?) actually complements her understated power and grace.
As always, the imagery suits the overall message of the Obamas, and it suits the times that we're in. It would have been rather ostentatious to see her all vamped up in a sexy gown and dripping with gaudy $10,000.00 jewels, not to mention the odd message that it would send to a financially stricken and expectant public.
