Two of my favourite Trinidadian style forces are coming together for a bound-to-be visually striking & culturally pore-raising fashion showing. Veteran designer Meiling and intimate East Indian-influenced boutique and tea spot, House of Jaipur are combining forces tomorrow night at the Lions Civic Center in Woodbrook, Trinidad.
Imagine "stepping into a Rajathani Palace, being garlanded as your'e welcome you into our world and looking onto the incredible fabrics and décor that will surround you..." The folks are all prepared to wow you, and they're promising the best from both; new designs from Meiling and exotic jewelry, asian-influenced trinkets and sumptuous delicacies from The House of Jaipur.
And in true culture-vulture fashion, the event will feature the musical accompaniment of the world-renowned classical indian musician, Mungal Patesar and the Pantar group. I'm not going to be there ('sob' for me) but if you're in Trinidad and you're wondering what to do on a cool, Tuesday evening, I fully recommend Jaipur, the event.
