"God Bless our Nation, of many varied races
May we posses that common love
That binds, and makes us one
Let it be known around the world
That we can boast of unity
And take our pride
In our liberty!"
May we posses that common love
That binds, and makes us one
Let it be known around the world
That we can boast of unity
And take our pride
In our liberty!"
The above excerpt, was taken from Trinidad & Tobago's National Song "God Bless our Nation" by Marjorie Padmore.
Written for a newly independent nation to encapsulate its newfound liberty and pride, this song has been sung by school children and patriots across Trinidad & Tobago for years.
I remember back in the day, being a part of my Newtown Girl's R.C. Primary School's choir and having to sing this song year after year after year on Independence Day - the repetition was nauseating!
Repetitious singing aside, the words of 'God Bless our Nation' still ring true. And with those words, I wish all Trini's a very HAPPY INDEPENDENCE!
