Have an Island Hopping Christmas...

Christmas in Trinidad is a unique mixture of varying elements. There are all those seasonal goodies that are perfect for feasting - Pastelles, Sorrel & Ginger beer, Paime, Black cake, Ham & Turkey with hops bread & chow-chow, fruits, and Danish cookies... it's a seemingly neverending list. There's the stream of constant visitors at your door, doing your entertaining at home, attending Christmas Mass, playing Parang music, watching foreign christmas cartoons & movies, gifts to give & receive, and so on... Unfortunately, there's also the frenzied shopping atmosphere, last minute home re-decorating, and last minute everything! I'm talking curtains & drapes being sewed on Christmas eve, and being hung up early Christmas morning.

Sometimes you end up being so worn out by Christmas day, you can barely move around to enjoy everything you've done. This year, I'm going to be skipping all of that; one part of me will miss my folks at home and all the bacchanal, but the other part is excited to be spending the holidays in a new country! Why don't you try it too? Just skip all the overdone holiday drama and spend Christmas with your nearest & dearest at one of my favourite Caribbean vacation spots. I'll also clue you in on the unique holiday customs of each featured spot, so you'll still be in the spirit, wherever you go!

Seasons Greetings.
