And it begins!

So this is my first post on Au Courant in the Caribbean - Welcome to the Regional Cyber Style Spot! I'm not a big web blogger; I find those online "communities" to be absolutely passe. Don't get me wrong, because I do have a facebook page and I also run a Caribbean Culture & Lifestyle E-Zine www.MyCaribbeanGateway.com, and yet, being poked online could NEVER compare to a good ole human contact smack!

And on to business, now... This blog and my motivation for creating it is simple and straightforward. I live stylishly and I love to see people defining style & fashion in their own terms. However, it peeves me that some of our dear Caribbean folks seem to be quite fond of swathing themselves in all these lovely European & American Labels they sometimes cant even pronounce. And most times it's an unfortunate fake that they're sporting - very sad. My philosophy? If you're craving a Goyard tote, or Louboutins, save your money and get the real damn thing...

But why not trawl through the 30 plus islands of the Caribbean for a unique, covetable and equally classy item? Now I know it's a daunting task, so hence this blog was born. I'll have all the delightful style updates and items here for you on a regular basis; I'm always open to suggestions, so feel free to comment and add your style opinions. Of course, in the true tradition of fashion observation, I'll also steer you clear of those unfortunate Island Dressing Mishaps. So until next time...
